Ber
Ber (Ziziphus mauritiana Lamk.) is cultivated on small scale in Pakistan because of its wide adaptability to harsh climate, minimal requirement of outputs, heavy bearing, tolerance to salinity and drought. Ripe fruits are rich in healthy nutrients containing high content of Vitamin C. It is also known as “poor man’s apple”. Annual production of Ber in Pakistan was 22895 tonnes over an area of 4686 hectares during 2020-21.
