Absolutely right, for promoting shelf life, godown should be air tight in all respects. However, apply mud or cement to fill all the gaps/cracks, if found in walls, floor or roofs. Fumigate the godown completely, with the tablets of aluminium phosphide to kill all type of injurious insects, rats etc. These measures are taken for ensuring cleanliness of godown for promoting shelf life of the commodity. Moreover, during fumigation, godown should be airtight for at least 48 hours. Added, after opening the godown, do not enter instantly upto 6 hours and clean the godown thoroughly. |
