Objectives 

Regional Agricultural Research Institute, Bahawalpur

  • To develop disease resistant and climate resilient wheat and other crops varieties to combat the climatic changes and to fulfill the food requirements of the increasing population of the country.
  • Enrichment of genetic diversity by acquisition of local and exotic germplasm to strengthen the climate resilient wheat varieties most suitable under climate change scenario.
  • To screen and select germplasm of wheat crop for their use in development of high yielding, heat drought, disease resistant and biofortified varieties.
  • To upgrade the labs and farm infrastructure for precise research activities.
  • To improve/upgrade the office/labs buildings for efficient research work.
  • To provide necessary accommodation facilities to the scientists.
  • To provide safe and comfortable travelling facilities to the scientists.

Mango Research Institute, Multan

  • To develop the climate resilient technology for Ultra High-Density Mango Plantation.
  • To standardize the water saving (30-40%) techniques for traditional mango orchards.
  • To upgrade the labs and farm infrastructure for precise research activities.
  • To explore the efficient and eco-friendly control measures for fruit borer and scales in mango.
  • To transfer the optimized technology through outreach program.

Cotton Research Institute, Multan

  • Up gradation of seminar hall for holding national as well as international conferences, training of the trainers/officers of Agriculture Extension & Pest Warning Departments and mega gatherings for dissemination of latest cotton production technology to the farmers.

Chief Scientist, Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, Faisalabad

  • To provide comfortable boarding/lodging facilities to Research Scientists.
  • Capacity building of scientists of other public institutes.

Execution

  • Principal Scientist, RARI, Bahawalpur, Chief Scientist ABRI Faisalabad, Principal Scientist, MRI, Multan and Chief Scientist, CRI, Multan will be responsible for the implementation of the project. The project will be implemented under the administrative and financial rules of the Govt. of the Punjab, Agriculture Department through ADP.
