Objectives

  • Development of drought, heat and disease tolerant gram and mungbean genotypes /varieties.
  • Screening of  advance local/exotic germplasm lines selected on the basis of drought for resistance against diseases
  • Research on application of supplement irrigation to gram crop in Thal area when there is no rain at right time in the required quantity to enhance its production
  • Evaluation of   drought tolerant lines at trials (PYT, AYT, MYT and NUYT) at seven locations viz.  AZRI, Bhakkar, Kallurkot, Mankara, Mianwali, Noorpur thal and chowbara
  • Production of BNS Seed for dissemination to seed production agencies and progressive farmers
