Dr. Muhammad Sabar

Dr. Muhammad Sabar has qualified his Ph. D. from NIBGE & Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan in Biotechnology during 2015 after winning PhD Indigenous Scholarship and Fellowship at International Rice Research Institute, Philippines. He was also merit scholarship holder in B. Sc (Hons) Agri. and SSC too. He has the practical experience of various Plant Breeding techniques both conventional (Introduction, hybridization, Selection etc.) and modern biotechnological approaches like DNA Fingerprinting, QTL Mapping and Marker Assisted Breeding. He was member of the breeding teams for the development of several strains from which two wheat varieties (Dharabi 11 & Ehsan 16) and seven rice varieties (Super Basmati, Basmati 2000, Basmati 515, KSK 133, Punjab Basmati, Chenab Basmati and Kissan Basmati) have been approved for general cultivation. He participated in numerous scientific congresses/ seminars in inland and at Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam. Thirty eight research publications are on the credit including twenty seven research papers, seven participation in scientific conferences, four popular articles, pamphlets etc. Now he is working as Director, Rice Research Institute, Kala Shah Kaku from 24.10.2018 to date and performing his administrative and research responsibilities.
