Dr. Khalid Hussain has a great success story. He completed his Ph.D. Degree in Agriculture Sciences during the year 2009. He is leading at front the research activities at Arid Zone Research Institute, Bhakkar as Director since October 2015. He has developed two wheat varieties named Fakhar-e- Bhakkar and Bhakkar- Star and one variety of mungbean named AZRI- Mung-2018 during the last two years. He has introduced lifesaving irrigation system in Thal area to enhance gram productivity on sustainable basis to reduce import bill. He also promoted mechanical harvesting of mungbean in traditional area of Thal to address labour shortage and weather hazards at the time of harvesting and threshing. He also developed seed production system of pulse crops at village level. He is playing significant role in agriculture research and development.
