Dr. Muhammad Akhter being the most senior and eminent scientist of Research Wing (Agriculture Department) has joined as Chief Scientist/ Director General, Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, Faisalabad in May 2023. He has completed his Ph.D from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, USA. Earlier, he served as Director Rice Research Institute, Kala Shah Kaku and Pulses Research Institute, Faisalabad respectively. Dr. Muhammad Akhter has played an important role in spreading the research outcomes regionally by establishing Rice Research Station, Bahawalnagar. He conducted 15 research projects and under his leadership, 10 varieties of pulses rice and cotton were developed and approved for general cultivation. More than 115 research papers in National and International reputed journals are on the credit. He presented the research endeavours in 30 National and International Scientific conferences. He has got the honour of representing Pakistan in many International seminars. The government of Pakistan has awarded him with numerous awards inclusively prestigious research productivity award, cash prizes and certificates for his outstanding professional achievements. He has a vast experience of more than 35 years in agricultural research and hoped that the agricultural sector will be further boosted through innovations in agricultural research in tackling the challenges of the country's food security and the economy.
