Dr. Muhammad Aslam

Dr. Muhammad Aslam, assumed the charge of the post of Chief Scientist at Fodder Research Institute, Sargodha in 2021. His research experience of thirty three years (since 04-07-89 to-date) in Plant Breeding & Genetics research on Chickpea, Mungbean, Wheat and Fodder crops for variety development using conventional breeding (Introduction, Selection, Hybridization) has made him a capable for Chickpea, Mungbean, wheat and fodder scientist ready to adapt and exploit agricultural research innovations on said grounds. In 1991, he did his M.Sc. (Hons.) in Plant Breeding and Genetics from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. Later on in 2010, he completed his Ph.D. studies on the subject entitled “Effect of Production Technology on yield and yield components of Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) under arid conditions”. During the course of learning more, he visited ICARDA Aleppo Syria and learnt techniques for the improvement of chickpea against biotic and abiotic stresses. His research contributions are appreciable as he evolved three Chickpea, three Mungbean, one wheat and one Oats variety having high yield. Declared as Productive Scientist of Pakistan by Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of Pakistan and won Research Productivity Award 2012. He have been selected as supervisor/Co-Supervisor for M.Sc (Hons.) and Ph.D students by Gomal University D.I.Khan. He has published more than 41 research publications as main author and  co-author in international and national journals and one book chapter. As a Principal Investigator /Project Manager he worked in thirteen Development Projects successfully with fruitful findings.
