Dr. Muhammad Musa

Dr. Muhammad Musa is Chief Scientist in Agronomic Research Institute, Faisalabad, Pakistan, leading a team executing research on developing technologies for sustainable farming systems. He completed his Ph.D. studies at University of Wales, United Kingdom in 2000 and developed forage cropping systems alternative to grasses and maize in South-West of UK. Key areas of focus include production aspects of wheat, maize, groundnut, oats, sorghum-sudan grass and other fodder crops. He investigated crop nutrition aspects particularly increasing nitrogen use efficiency, atmospheric nitrogen fixation and soil biodiversity. Dr. Musa also studied weed management, weed crop competition and weedicides efficacy in different crops. He successfully executed project on off-season vegetable cultivation in tunnels. He served the Agriculture department, Govt. of Punjab for about 34 years on various research and management positions and was given Performance Reward by the department. He was ranked as Productive Scientist by Ministry of Science and Technology in 2016 and 2017. He also served as senior program specialist in SAARC Agriculture Centre, Dhaka and Bangladesh. He successfully organized workshops in Sri lanka, Bhutan, Bangladesh and published books later on. He wrote a chapter in each of two books published by SAARC Agriculture Center, Dhaka and IntechOpen, UK. He published over 50 research papers in journals of international repute. He was the managing editor of SAARC Journal of Agriculture during 2013-15 and is member of editorial board since 2016 to date. Dr Musa presented his work in national and international conferences at Pakistan, Spain, Bangladesh, Sri lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Thailand.
