Objectives

  • Liaison abroad with Agriculture Research Institutes for collaborative research activities through;

a. Training of young and mid-career scientists for the period of 4-6 months in specific field of agri. research at Research Organizations/ Universities from abroad.

b. Visit of delegates comprising of research team leaders for one-two weeks to have exposure of research methodologies and explore the opportunities of mutual collaboration in advance research tools.

c. Strengthening research capacity of the agriculture scientists by allowing doing PhDs in Agriculture Universities and Institutes from abroad.

  • Liaison with University of Agriculture, Faisalabad for conducting part of M.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and PhD research of post graduate students at AARI, Faisalabad.

Targets of project

  • Training of 69 young and mid-career Scientists for 4-6 months in abroad
  • Two visits of delegates (30-35 officers/officials) to selected Research Organizations/Universities from abroad
  • Scientists securing admission in PhD programs at agriculture universities and researchinstitutes abroad will be awarded leave as per rules and regulations.
  • Interested post graduate (PhD & M.Phil/M.Sc. Hons.) students will be allowed to carry out part of their thesis research work at AARI, Faisalabad.

Targets for 2021-22

  • 25 young & mid-career scientists will be sent to abroad for 4-6 months training.
  • One group of Officials from Agri. Secretariat/ Chief Scientists/ Directors/ Head of Sections comprising of 30-35 officers will visit the selected Research Organizations/Universities in abroad
  • Scientists securing admission in PhD programs at agriculture universities and research institutes abroad will be awarded leave as per rules and regulations.
  • Interested post graduate (PhD & M.Phil/M.Sc. Hons.) students will be allowed to carry out part of their thesis research work at AARI, Faisalabad.

Expected impact after completion of project

  • An effective and efficient Research & Development (R&D) System will be developed to support the search for solutions to agricultural problems.
  • Technical support and technological up gradation from developed countries for structuraltransformation, programming, and management
  • Capacity building of agricultural scientists will help to effectively share their work byimproving their write up according to international standards. Hence, number of quality ofresearch publications will be increased.
  • New varieties as well as technologies will be available for farming community.
